My Official Endorsement: Obama
Most people don't follow American politics as closely as I do. So I'll offer my unsolicited advice, in case anyone who reads my blog is actually able to vote in next year's US presidential elections.
Vote for Barack Obama.
Obama is a mainstream candidate--which means that he has a realistic chance of winning. There are other candidates with better platforms, but they're never going to win, so it would be a strategic waste to vote for them.
These days, American public opinion (on virtually every topic) is paralyzed by a deep split along basically religious lines. That's why, despite all of the things that have been going wrong in the United States, the American public can't seem to get its outrage focused for long enough to fix anything. The best way cure this problem is for America to find a president who is a) able to unite people who have different religious beliefs, and b) the opposite of George Bush in every meaningful way.
In other words, Obama!
